Venus Laowa 58mm f/2.8 APO Macro Review

Now that you’ve heard my thoughts on the new Venus Laowa 58mm f/2.8 APO Macro Dreamer 2x lens (what a mouthful!), we’ll start out with a little wedding action. These photos were taken at a couple different events.

Then some downtown fashion. Forgive the hard direct lighting in some of these, I was also testing out the Godox Lux Junior at the same time.

And back to the studio for our classic cat’s eye bokeh testing.

Once again in the studio, but this time we see that this lens is possibly a bit Too detailed for some studio work. I might change my editing settings to be a little softer if I were using this for client work, but I kept it all consistent with the usual editing.

A few shots from an engagement shoot. Thankfully the dog held still long enough (but not long!) for me to manually focus!

Then to my front yard for a little close up action, including Lego Batman surveying his realm.

A little nature walk. Here you’ll see this lens really doesn’t like to make sun stars. It won’t resist All flaring, but the stars aren’t its forte at all (which can be good or bad, depending on who you ask!)

And finally a bee hunkering down for the coming hurricane.
